Barcelona Make Early Decision on Marcus Rashford’s Future After Loan Move From Man United

Barcelona have reportedly made an early decision regarding the future of Marcus Rashford, just months after the England forward joined the club on loan from Manchester United.

According to The Sun, officials at the Catalan club are “really shocked” by United’s asking price and are now strongly considering making Rashford’s move permanent.

Rashford joined Barcelona in July on a season-long loan after being placed in Manchester United’s so-called “bomb squad” by manager Ruben Amorim. Since arriving in Spain, the 26-year-old has impressed under Hansi Flick, scoring three goals and providing five assists — including a match-winning brace in the Champions League against Newcastle last month.

Those inside Camp Nou are said to be “ecstatic” with Rashford’s performances and attitude. A club source told The Sun:

“Barcelona had an issue signing Marcus initially because of their financial situation. They also thought United were playing games by letting him go — it seemed too good to be true. His brother, Dwaine, assured them there was nothing wrong with him, and that he wouldn’t let them down.”

The source added:

“Barça are now really shocked that they could sign him for what they see as a bargain.”

Under the terms of the loan agreement, Barcelona can secure Rashford’s permanent transfer for £25 million plus £5 million in add-ons, with Manchester United also entitled to a percentage of any future sale.

Earlier speculation from Spanish outlet El Nacional had claimed that Barcelona were unhappy with Rashford’s performances and were considering sending him back to Old Trafford. The report described him as “shy, imprecise and lost.”

However, football journalist Guillem Balagué dismissed those claims, calling them “absolutely rubbish.”

“Barcelona told his representatives that they have full confidence in Rashford’s potential and believe he will return to his best form,” Balagué said on X (formerly Twitter).

With his growing influence on the pitch and Barcelona’s satisfaction with his progress, the club now appears ready to make Rashford’s stay at Camp Nou a long-term one — at a price they consider a steal.
