Super Falcons Receive N50m Cash Gift from Governor Dapo Abiodun [PHOTOS]

The Super Falcons have received a ₦50 million cash reward from the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, in recognition of their outstanding achievements in women’s football.

Governor Abiodun announced the donation via his official Instagram page during the team’s visit to his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The governor hosted the Falcons ahead of their second-leg clash with the Amazons of Benin Republic in the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

Speaking during the event, Abiodun described the financial gesture as a token of appreciation for the team’s exceptional performances in past WAFCON tournaments, particularly their record 10th continental title won in Morocco.

“What the Falcons represent goes far beyond football. They embody leadership, teamwork, and discipline. Through their example, millions of young women are learning that excellence knows no gender — and that with hard work and unity, they too can achieve greatness,”

The governor urged the players to remain focused and determined as they aim to secure qualification for the next round of the competition.

He also revealed plans by his administration to rehabilitate the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta, transforming it into a world-class sports and tourism hub.

According to Abiodun, the upgraded facility will feature a five-star hotel, cinema, shopping complex, and other modern amenities designed to attract global sporting events.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Ogun State government, residents, and sports stakeholders for the Super Falcons, describing them as true ambassadors of Nigerian excellence.
