Plateau Information Commissioner Joyce Ramnap Receives 2025 Excellence Award in Public Communication

By Israel Adamu, Jos

Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni, has been honoured with the 2025 Excellence Award in Public Communication at the Plateau Excellence Award ceremony held over the weekend.

The organisers said the award recognises her outstanding contributions to shaping public narratives and promoting effective communication across Plateau State. They described the honour as a testament to her dedication, professionalism, and commitment to advancing the state’s image.

In her acceptance speech, Ramnap expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for giving her the platform to serve as the state’s image maker under the “Time Is Now” administration.

She emphasised the importance of communication in driving socio-economic development, noting that accurate information and strategic messaging remain central to governance and public engagement in Plateau State.

Ramnap also used the occasion to address concerns surrounding the recent directive on the temporary closure of schools in the state. She explained that the decision was taken to safeguard students, teachers, and school personnel in the face of potential security threats.

“The Plateau State Government wishes to reassure citizens that these measures are necessary to prevent potential threats and guarantee the security of our educational institutions,” she stated.

She urged parents, guardians, school administrators, and community leaders to remain calm and cooperate with government instructions, stressing the importance of sharing only verified information. “We urge citizens to avoid rumour-mongering and the spread of unverified reports, which could lead to unnecessary tension,” she added.

Ramnap reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and public safety across the state. “Government remains committed to ensuring that peace, stability, and public safety are upheld,” she concluded.
