President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to confer the Distinguished Award for Excellence in Infrastructure Delivery and Sustainable Regional Growth on the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, on December 7, 2025.The honour is part of the 2025 Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS), organised by The Best Strategic (TBS) Media in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).According to an official letter signed by Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, Permanent Secretary of the General Services Office in the OSGF, Dr. Ogbuku’s nomination reflects his exceptional leadership and contributions to infrastructure development and sustainable growth in the Niger Delta.The award ceremony will take place at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, with President Tinubu serving as the Special Guest of Honour and presenter of the award.
This latest recognition comes 17 months after President Tinubu publicly praised the NDDC leadership during the Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit in Port Harcourt on July 12, 2024. At the event, the President commended the board and management for their unity and renewed commitment to advancing development in the oil-producing region. Under Dr. Ogbuku’s stewardship, the NDDC has implemented notable projects across the nine Niger Delta states, including road construction, bridge rehabilitation and the provision of key social amenities. These achievements have been highlighted nationally as evidence of the progress recorded under his administration and the justification for the upcoming national honour.The December 7 ceremony is expected to draw top government officials, development partners and stakeholders from across the region.
