The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has received the Public Service Award at the BusinessDay Excellence Awards 2025. The honour was presented during the seventh edition of the annual lecture and awards ceremony themed “Shaping Nigeria’s Economic Future: Navigating Challenges, Unlocking Opportunities”.
The event, held to celebrate outstanding leaders of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), recognized individuals who have demonstrated excellence in implementing government policies and driving national development.In a statement signed by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, Publisher of BusinessDay, Frank Aigbogun, commended all honorees. He described public service as a noble calling, particularly at a time when Nigeria faces significant economic and social challenges.“
There is no higher calling in terms of a career than public service, which offers a chance to make a difference in people’s lives. Given the present realities the country is grappling with, this year’s ceremony is both timely and essential. Service to others is the rent we pay for our space here on earth,” Aigbogun said.Olukoyede, who was named Excellence in Public Service Award recipient, was represented at the ceremony by Commander CE Wilson Uwujaren, Director of Public Affairs at the EFCC.
The event attracted prominent dignitaries, including former President Goodluck Jonathan (represented by former Senate President Pius Anyim), Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris Malagi, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, among others.The EFCC chairman’s recognition highlights the Commission’s ongoing efforts under his leadership to strengthen anti-corruption measures, enhance public accountability, and support Nigeria’s economic reform agenda.
