Kogi Government Denies Alleged Sacking of 25 Political Appointees

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Kogi State Government has dismissed reports claiming that 25 political office holders were recently sacked over alleged links to certain political figures, describing the story as false and misleading. In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, the government said the claim was “baseless and mischievous,” and aimed at causing unnecessary tension.

Fanwo explained that only one Special Adviser was relieved of his duties, strictly because his services were no longer required, adding that no other aide was removed for any reason, political or otherwise.“For clarity, only one Special Adviser was relieved of his duties, strictly on the basis that his services were no longer required. No other aide was removed, and certainly not for reasons related to political affiliation or association,” he stated.

He stressed that the administration has no political dispute with any individual or group, noting that the government remains committed to separating governance from politics while focusing on the development and progress of the state. The statement also clarified that the government maintains a cordial relationship with Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, whom it described as an illustrious son of Kogi State and a respected federal lawmaker.Fanwo urged the public to disregard the rumour, which he said was being circulated by individuals intent on sowing mischief and unrest.“

Kogi State remains peaceful, united, and firmly on the path of progress,” the statement concluded.
