Gov. Yusuf Felicitates Premier Radio 102.7 on 4th Anniversary, Commends Ethical Journalism

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has congratulated Premier Radio 102.7 FM on its fourth anniversary, praising the station for its professionalism, ethical standards, and contributions to public enlightenment and good governance in Kano State.

The governor’s message was conveyed in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, marking the milestone celebration of the broadcast organisation since its establishment.Governor Yusuf described Premier Radio as a reputable, people-oriented media outfit that has consistently played a constructive role in informing the public and strengthening democratic values through responsible journalism.

He commended the station’s commitment to ethical journalism, noting its adherence to accuracy, balanced reporting, and editorial independence in an era marked by misinformation and sensationalism. According to the governor, Premier Radio has earned public trust by providing unbiased news coverage and offering a platform for diverse opinions, while upholding the core principles of objectivity, fairness, and accountability in broadcasting. He noted that the station has contributed significantly to the promotion of peace, unity, and informed public discourse across Kano State by ensuring inclusive programming that transcends political, ethnic, and sectional boundaries.

Governor Yusuf further acknowledged the role of Premier Radio in strengthening citizen engagement, describing it as a reliable platform where public issues are discussed responsibly and voices from different segments of society are heard.In the statement, the governor also congratulated the Chairman of Premier Radio, Malam Abba Dabo, for his visionary leadership and sustained investment in credible journalism. He described Malam Abba Dabo’s leadership as instrumental to the station’s growth and stability, noting that his experience as a veteran journalist has shaped the organisation’s strong editorial culture.

Governor Yusuf praised the Chairman for turning his post-retirement years into a meaningful extension of public service, adding that his continued contribution to the media sector reflects patriotism and commitment to societal development. He also acknowledged Malam Abba Dabo’s dedication to mentoring young journalists, building professional capacity, and fostering a culture of integrity and excellence within the broadcast industry.

According to the governor, such mentorship efforts are critical to sustaining quality journalism and ensuring that future media practitioners uphold ethical standards and professional responsibility.
