NCDMB Executive Secretary Mourns Bayelsa Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, has expressed profound shock and sorrow over the sudden death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

In a condolence letter signed on Monday on behalf of NCDMB’s management and staff, Ogbe extended heartfelt sympathies to Governor Douye Diri, the late deputy governor’s immediate family, the Bayelsa State government, and the people of the state.

Describing Ewhrudjakpo’s passing as a devastating loss to Bayelsa, the oil and gas sector, and Nigeria, Ogbe highlighted the deputy governor’s dedication to attracting investments and fostering cooperative ties between oil-producing communities and industry operators.

He recalled Ewhrudjakpo’s tenure as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, noting that he maintained a strong and constructive relationship with the NCDMB. The late deputy governor frequently represented Bayelsa at key industry events, including the annual Practical Nigerian Content Forum, the Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunities Fair, and the groundbreaking of the Oloibiri Museum and Research Centre.

Ogbe praised Ewhrudjakpo’s active involvement in promoting local content development, emphasizing that he brought “insightful ideas, intellectual depth, and a refreshing personality” to industry discussions.

The NCDMB Executive Secretary concluded by bidding a solemn farewell and praying for the repose of Ewhrudjakpo’s soul, noting the deputy governor’s enduring legacy in advancing development and collaboration in the oil and gas sector.

Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo passed away on December 11, 2025, after collapsing in his office. He was 60 years old. In honour of his memory, the Bayelsa State government has declared three days of official mourning.
