Tinubu inaugurates APC conflict resolution committee ahead of 2027 polls

President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated a Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation to address internal disputes within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The committee was inaugurated in Lagos on Wednesday, with Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, named as chairman, while former APC National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, will serve as member-secretary.

Its membership comprises governors, ministers and other key stakeholders of the ruling party. They include Senators Adamu Aliero; Governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta).

Also on the committee are Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; and former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

Speaking at the inauguration, Buni thanked President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in the committee, pledging that members would discharge their duties with commitment and responsibility.

According to him, the committee will engage in wide consultations and strategic engagements aimed at developing an inclusive, productive and sustainable framework for resolving disputes within the party.

“The committee will implement a system that gives everyone, especially aggrieved parties, a sense of belonging and inclusion, with renewed hope,” Buni said, adding that proactive measures would also be adopted to address potential threats to party unity.

He urged members not to allow personal interests to override the collective goals of the APC.

The inauguration followed Tinubu’s recent call for unity within the party at the APC’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting held on December 19 at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
