Kano Speaker Mourns Death of Two Lawmakers, Calls Loss Devastating to Assembly

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of two serving lawmakers, describing their passing as a devastating loss to the Assembly, Kano State, and the nation.The Speaker mourned Hon. Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, and Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, Chairman of the Committee on Hajj Pilgrims, who died recently. The condolences were conveyed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Speaker’s spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai.

Falgore said the deaths of the two legislators came as a painful shock, noting that both men were respected for their discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service.“ Kano State has indeed lost two of its finest personalities. This is a loss for all of us, and the grief is both profound and heartbreaking,” the Speaker stated.He noted that from the onset of their legislative careers, Hon. Ungogo and Hon. Daneji distinguished themselves through dedication, professionalism, and strong leadership capacity. According to him, their approach to governance reflected deep knowledge of legislative processes and effective management of sensitive responsibilities.The Speaker stressed that their contributions went beyond committee work, adding that both lawmakers played significant roles in strengthening legislative development and democratic governance in Kano State.“They demonstrated remarkable competence in the discharge of their duties and maintained strong interpersonal relationships with colleagues and constituents alike,” Falgore said.

He described their deaths as monumental not only for the Kano State House of Assembly but also for Nigeria, given their commitment to service and people-oriented representation.Falgore further extended condolences to the bereaved families, the Kano State Government, and the people of Kano, assuring them that the Assembly shares in their grief.“

It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that I, on behalf of the Kano State House of Assembly, extend heartfelt condolences to their families, the Kano State Government, and the good people of Kano,” he said.The Speaker prayed for strength and comfort for the families during the difficult period, urging them to find solace in the legacy of service left behind by the departed lawmakers.“

At this moment of grief, I pray that Almighty Allah grants their families the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” Falgore added.He also offered prayers for the repose of their souls, asking Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus. The Kano State House of Assembly, he said, will continue to honour their memory by upholding the values of integrity, dedication, and service which they exemplified during their time in office.
