NYA President Inaugurates Aliyu Care Foundation Kano Chapter, Honours Legacy of Malam Aminu Kano

By Jabiru Hassan

The National President of the National Youth Alliance (NYA), Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, on Wednesday inaugurated the Kano State chapter of the Aliyu Care Foundation, describing the initiative as a platform to deepen youth participation in humanitarian service and social development. The inauguration ceremony, held at the Centre for Socratic Research, Mambayya House, in Kano, attracted youths from across Nigeria, alongside leaders of the NYA and other invited dignitaries. The venue, located at the historic residence of the late Malam Aminu Kano in Gwammaja Quarters, added symbolic significance to the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of young people, noting that their presence reflected a growing readiness among Nigerian youths to assume leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to national development. He said the Aliyu Care Foundation was established as a humanitarian organisation focused on supporting the less privileged, regardless of background or social status. According to him, the foundation’s mission aligns with the values of service, compassion, and inclusivity.“ I am happy to see the enthusiasm of young people gathered here today. It is a clear indication that Nigerian youths are ready to lead and to make a difference,” he said. Ambassador Abbas added that the foundation would prioritise initiatives aimed at alleviating hardship, promoting social welfare, and empowering vulnerable groups across communities. He expressed confidence that the objectives behind the establishment of the Aliyu Care Foundation would be achieved through collective commitment and sustained engagement.

The NYA president noted that youth-led organisations have a critical role to play in addressing social challenges, especially at the grassroots level, where the impact of humanitarian interventions is often most felt.As part of the inauguration programme, a special prayer session was held in honour of the late Malam Aminu Kano, fondly remembered as Jagoran Talakawa for his lifelong advocacy for the masses. Ambassador Abbas led the call for prayers, acknowledging Malam Aminu Kano’s enduring contributions to democratic ideals, leadership development, and good governance in Nigeria.

He described the late nationalist as a symbol of principled leadership and social justice, whose legacy continues to inspire generations of Nigerians, particularly youths committed to equity and people-oriented governance.“Praying for Malam Aminu Kano is not just about remembrance; it is about reaffirming the values he stood for—justice, democracy, and leadership with conscience,” Ambassador Abbas said.Participants at the event also highlighted the importance of sustaining Malam Aminu Kano’s ideals through practical actions, including humanitarian outreach and youth empowerment initiatives such as those envisioned by the Aliyu Care Foundation Kano Chapter.

The inauguration marked the formal commencement of the foundation’s activities in Kano State, with organisers indicating that programmes would soon be rolled out to address pressing social needs within the state and beyond. The event concluded with goodwill messages from youth leaders and guests, who pledged support for the foundation’s mission and called for greater collaboration among youth-driven organisations to promote social development and national cohesion.
