BREAKING: Chelsea appoint Liam Rosenior as new head coach

Chelsea Football Club have confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach of the men’s team.

The 41-year-old tactician arrives at Stamford Bridge with a growing reputation in management, having impressed in previous roles in England and abroad. Rosenior most recently coached French side RC Strasbourg, where he guided the club to European qualification for the first time in 19 years during his debut season. He has also held managerial and coaching positions with Hull City and Derby County.

Chelsea said the former Premier League and Championship defender brings fresh ideas, strong leadership and a proven ability to develop young players as the club targets sustained success at home and in Europe.

In a statement on its official website, the club said: “Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach of the men’s team. The club extends a warm welcome to Rosenior and looks forward to his leadership on and off the pitch.”

Rosenior has signed a long-term contract with the Blues, running until 2032.

Reacting to his appointment, Rosenior described the opportunity as a huge honour. “I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed head coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies,” he said.

“My job is to protect that identity and build a team that reflects those values in every match. I believe strongly in teamwork, unity and togetherness, and those principles will be at the heart of everything we do.”

He added that he was eager to work with the club’s players and staff, promising total commitment to restoring Chelsea’s competitiveness at the highest level.

“I want our fans to be proud of who we are and what we represent every time we step onto the pitch. They are the soul of this great football club, and I can’t wait to get started,” Rosenior said.

Chelsea noted that Rosenior has consistently demonstrated the ability to build teams with a clear playing identity while maintaining high standards on and off the pitch.

“While player development remains important, the club’s ambitions are clear. Liam has the quality and drive to get the best out of this squad and ensure Chelsea continues to compete for honours this season and beyond,” the club added.
