A former senator representing Anambra North, Emmanuel Anosike, has been elected Chairman of the Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Anosike emerged through a consensus arrangement at the party’s state congress held Tuesday at the APC secretariat in Awka. He currently chairs the Anambra Imo River Basin Development Commission.
Chairman of the State Congress Committee and Returning Officer, Williams Kayoda (rtd), announced the consensus list of State Executive Committee members, stating that about 2,100 delegates endorsed the list by voice affirmation. He said the process complied with Articles 14 and 20 of the party’s constitution, which provide for consensus in the election of officers.
Chief Chidi Orji was named Vice Chairman, while Obi Okpala emerged as Secretary, alongside other executive members.
Earlier, Chairman of the Congress Harmonisation Committee and Director-General of the South-East Governors’ Forum, Uche Ekwunife, said the consensus approach was adopted to ensure credible leadership and reposition the party in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Anosike pledged inclusive leadership and committed to strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. He also expressed appreciation to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for his role in regional party coordination.
The executive committee led by the immediate past chairman, Basil Ejidike, was dissolved following a motion adopted by voice vote.
