Kaduna State Commissioner of Education, , has said the state is accelerating the transition of its education system into a technology-driven and globally competitive sector.
Prof. Sambo disclosed that the Kaduna State Government sent a high-powered delegation of academics to the 2026 Research in Distance and E-Learning (RIDE) Conference held at the .
In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said the delegation, which included five professors, engaged with global experts in digital, blended, and distance education.
He added that the team held strategic discussions with the (CODE), a leading global hub for online education, where they also showcased research presentations from (KASU).
According to the commissioner, the engagement opened pathways for institutional collaboration between KASU and the University of London to build capacity in digital and distance learning. He revealed that the Kaduna State Government is set to formalise a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both institutions to strengthen online and distance education.
As part of the initiative, a pilot Central Learning Management System (LMS) will be deployed at KASU as a model for wider implementation, while selected academics will receive training in digital pedagogy and course delivery.
Prof. Sambo further stated that both institutions will embark on joint research and academic exchange programmes, with CODE providing technical support for digital learning infrastructure.
He noted that the conference validated ongoing reforms in Kaduna State’s education sector, particularly the expansion of hybrid learning and computer-based testing systems.
The commissioner also said the RIDE conference commended the strengthening of the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority through digital tools, as well as efforts to expand access to education through technology-driven learning models.
He added that the initiative aligns with global best practices, especially in reaching out-of-school children through flexible and distance learning approaches.
The Kaduna State delegation to the conference included Prof. Sambo; President of the Nigerian Academy of Science; Vice Chancellor of KASU, ; Professor Bello Ayuba, Principal Private Secretary to Governor Uba Sani; Prof. Yusha’u Ango, Deputy Vice Chancellor of KASU; Prof. Usman Abubakar Zaria, Director-General of the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority; and Dr. Fatima Shehu Kabir, Director, Institute of Education, KASU.
