The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has denied claims that it has endorsed or “anointed” individuals as preferred candidates for upcoming elections. In a statement issued by the state chairman, Atiku Sankey, the party described the reports as false and misleading, attributing them to rumours intended to create division within its ranks.
The APC said candidate selection would follow provisions of its constitution and the Electoral Act, including direct primaries or consensus among aspirants. It emphasised that consensus, where adopted, should not be misconstrued as imposition. The statement also addressed claims linking Governor Uba Sani to alleged endorsements, stating that neither the party nor the governor has backed any aspirant for elective office.
According to the party, it remains committed to internal democracy, fairness and equal opportunity for all aspirants. The APC urged members and the public to disregard unverified information and avoid actions that could undermine party unity. It also warned that disciplinary measures may be taken against individuals whose conduct could bring the party into disrepute.
