The has announced the deployment of security personnel and operational assets to ensure a smooth conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the state.
Commissioner of Police, , disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, assuring candidates, parents and the general public of adequate security throughout the examination period.

According to the police chief, comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place ahead of the examination scheduled to commence on April 16, 2026.
As part of preparations, Ewah, alongside members of the command’s management team, conducted an assessment tour of designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres within Jos North Local Government Area, including facilities at Zololo Junction, Forestry and Rikkos.
The command stated that the UTME will be held within the Jos metropolis from April 16 to April 20, 2026, while in other parts of the state, the examination will conclude on April 18.
Ewah explained that the inspection tour was aimed at evaluating the level of preparedness and ensuring that adequate security measures were in place at all examination venues.
He added that sufficient manpower had been strategically deployed across all centres to guarantee the safety of candidates, officials and examination materials.
The commissioner further directed Area Commanders to carry out similar assessment visits within their jurisdictions and ensure robust security coverage.
He warned individuals or groups planning to disrupt the examination to desist, stressing that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, would deal decisively with offenders in accordance with the law.
Ewah also reassured residents of the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, urging candidates and their parents to go about their activities without fear and to report emergencies through designated police channels.
