NUC Accredits 27 Courses in PAAU, Anyigba

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to five postgraduate and 22 undergraduate programmes at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba.

This was contained in a press statement issued on Friday and made available to the press by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Omale Uredo.

Omale said the development followed the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise and represents a significant academic milestone.

“Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has recorded a significant academic milestone as the National Universities Commission (NUC) grants full accreditation to five postgraduate and 22 undergraduate programmes spread across faculties and colleges, following the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise,” she said.

She added that the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, who disclosed the development, noted that the university secured full accreditation for several undergraduate programmes across the Faculties of Agriculture, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Law, Management Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and the College of Health Sciences. He also stated that all postgraduate programmes in the Faculty of Management Sciences secured full accreditation status.

He described the outcome as a reflection of the steady growth of the institution and its commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance.

According to the NUC report signed by its Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, undergraduate programmes in Accounting, Business Administration, and Public Administration in the Faculty of Management Sciences received full accreditation. Postgraduate programmes, including M.Sc. Accounting, Banking and Finance, Management, and Public Administration, as well as MPA Public Administration, were also fully accredited.

In the Faculty of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture programmes received full accreditation status.

Similarly, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science, and Pharmacology in the College of Health Sciences were fully accredited.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities also recorded impressive outcomes, with Arabic, History and International Studies, Islamic Studies, Philosophy, and English and Literary Studies receiving full accreditation, while Christian Religious Studies was granted interim accreditation.

In Computing, Computer Science received full accreditation, while the Faculty of Law also secured full accreditation for its Law programme (Common and Islamic Law).

In the Social Sciences, programmes such as Economics and Sociology were also fully accredited.

Professor Usman expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his support in providing the necessary resources and enabling environment that made the achievement possible. He noted that the government’s investment in education continues to yield tangible results.

The Vice-Chancellor also paid tribute to his predecessor, Professor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, under whose leadership the accreditation exercise was conducted.

He assured stakeholders that the university would continue to build on the gains recorded, improve on areas with interim status, and sustain high standards in teaching, research, and community service.

“The accreditation outcome reaffirms PAAU’s growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence in Nigeria’s higher education landscape,” he said.
