Security agencies raid IPOB territory, arrest native doctor, declare mechanic, others wanted

By Emmanuel Ndubuisi, Enugu

Security operatives have again raided territories of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, during which several arrests were made.

Among those arrested was one Mr Larry Nnam, who was alleged to be a native doctor preparing charms for the IPOB militant wing, Eastern Security Network.

Our correspondent reports that this came after the Nigerian Military accused IPOB members of fueling the recent End-SARS protest which grounded activities across the country.

IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, had during the protest, used his Biafra radio to charge his members to actively participate in the protest against police brutality.

After the protest, the police and the military have been clamping down on IPOB members, who are believed to have played a major part in the protest.

During a raid at some location in Rivers State, Larry, a native doctor was arrested alongside other suspected IPOB members. His shrine was also destroyed by the security team.

According to the police, those arrested during the raid included Chimere Ikoku, Christian Maduko, Kelechi Ochianya, Paul Maduforo and John Nwibo, while several others escaped.

It was further gathered that after the arrest of the first set of suspects, the joint security team returned the following day hunting for one Uduma Ibe, a popular auto mechanic, who is alleged to be servicing the vehicles being used by the members of the ESN.

Although Uduma Ibe, from Akanu Ohafia, in Abia State, escaped arrest, his shop located at Oyigbo, Rivers State, was completely burnt down.

Police spokesman told our correspondent that Ibe was alleged to be an auto mechanic for the IPOB members, adding that “he escaped before operatives could swoop in on him.

“He has been declared wanted alongside other suspects, including Chijioke Ekwe, Kingsley Mbonu, Ebuka Chikweike, Obum Nelson, and Okafor Nwannunu.

“Uduma Ibe, born on 23/01/1978, is 190cm in height and his color is brown in complexion

“We urge anyone with useful information on the whereabouts of the suspects to report to the nearest police or other security formations,” the PPRO added.

Meanwhile, IPOB spokesman, Mr Emma Powerful has condemned the recent raid, describing it as reckless.

Powerful claimed that innocent people were killed and their means of livelihood destroyed simply because they were Igbo men.

“The people they killed died simply because they are Igbo men agitating for freedom; they committed no offence known to law; self determination is not a crime.

“Look at how people’s means of livelihood were set ablaze and families rendered homeless.

“The international community should see the atrocities being committed by the Nigerian Government through the security agencies in Biafraland.”
