Afrobeats singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has announced plans to change his birthday date amid an ongoing rift with his twin brother and former music partner, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy. The singer made the statement in a brief post on X, formerly Twitter, writing, “I’m officially changing my birthday date.”
The twins, born on November 18, 1981, gained prominence as P-Square, one of Nigeria’s most successful music groups. The duo split in 2017 following disagreements reportedly linked to management, finances and creative direction. Although they reunited in 2021, the comeback was short-lived as both artistes later resumed solo careers.
The development follows recent tensions between the brothers. Rudeboy had earlier alleged that Mr P petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over claims of fraudulent dealings. According to Rudeboy, he was invited by the anti-graft agency and questioned about his financial transactions.
Rudeboy subsequently stated that he was cleared of wrongdoing. He also expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of apology after the allegations were resolved. Mr P has not publicly responded to the claims beyond his social media post.
