The Benin Zonal Directorate of the has secured the conviction and sentencing of before Justice C. A. Obiozor of the Federal High Court sitting in .
Ejimiyare was arraigned on an amended one-count charge bordering on conspiracy with one to commit internet fraud.
He was accused of recruiting young boys for operators of a syndicate known as “Hustling Kingdom,” also referred to as a Yahoo school.
According to the charge, the defendant conspired with Eze, who is currently at large, to commit computer-related fraud.
Ejimiyare pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him, prompting prosecution counsel, , to urge the court to convict and sentence him accordingly. The trial judge subsequently adjourned the matter to April 20 for sentencing.
At the resumed hearing, Justice Obiozor convicted and sentenced the defendant to five years imprisonment or an option of a N1 million fine. The court also ordered the forfeiture of his mobile phone and directed him to undertake in writing to be of good behaviour.
Ejimiyare’s arrest followed the handover of 17 boys by the Nigerian Army 4 Brigade Headquarters to the EFCC after they were apprehended at a suspected Yahoo school.
During interrogation, several of the boys reportedly confessed that they were recruited into the fraudulent scheme by the convict.
