Plateau North Group Backs Prof Atu for Senate

Says zone needs unity, quality representation

A socio-political group, , has endorsed the senatorial ambition of ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing the need for unity and effective representation in Plateau North Senatorial District.

Speaking with journalists in at the weekend, the Chairman of the Forum, , said the endorsement followed what he described as a careful assessment of past representation in the zone.

According to him, Plateau North has experienced underdevelopment due to divisions among its diverse ethnic and religious groups, stressing that the region requires a new direction anchored on unity and inclusive leadership.

Kim explained that the forum, made up of stakeholders from the six local government areas in the senatorial district, was established to promote peaceful coexistence and development across the zone.

He said the group operates under the motto, “Our Diversity, Our Strength,” reflecting its commitment to strengthening cohesion across ethnic, religious and social divides.

The chairman noted that the forum identified the need for a credible, experienced and unifying figure capable of delivering people-oriented representation in the Senate.

“After careful consideration, we unanimously resolved to support Professor Danladi Abok Atu as our preferred candidate for the Plateau North Senatorial seat in 2027,” he stated.

The forum described Atu as a seasoned academic with a Ph.D. in Social Studies, specialising in Peace Education and Social Rehabilitation, adding that his academic background positions him well for legislative responsibilities.

It also highlighted his experience in public service, including his tenure as Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area and Secretary to the Plateau State Government.

According to the group, Atu’s grassroots connection, commitment to peacebuilding and record in community development distinguish him as a bridge-builder capable of uniting Plateau North.

The forum further expressed confidence that his leadership qualities, integrity and broad network would attract development and investment to the senatorial district.
