Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket and emerged unopposed to contest the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in 2027.
At a stakeholders’ meeting held in Katsina on April 28, he was adopted by consensus, according to a statement released over the weekend by the Chairman of the Consensus Committee, Ahmed Dangiwa.
The APC Chairman in Mai’adua Local Government Area, Mannir Musa, urged party members to accept the outcome and work towards unity, stating that power ultimately belongs to God.
He noted that the selection process was conducted in a transparent atmosphere, allowing members to freely express their views without rancour.
Musa also appealed to Governor Dikko Radda to support aspirants who were not selected and called on consensus candidates to deliver effective representation if elected.
Others who reportedly secured automatic tickets include Nasir Yahaya for the Daura senatorial race and Mustapha Musa for the Mai’adua seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly.
In his remarks, Yusuf Buhari thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to provide quality representation.
“I know where I come from and where I am going,” he said.
