Victor Osimhen has reportedly been advised to avoid a move to Manchester United amid growing transfer speculation linking him with several European giants ahead of the summer window.
The Nigerian striker, currently playing for Galatasaray, is attracting strong interest from top clubs including Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea FC, and Bayern Munich.
Former Super Eagles striker Peter Odemwingie has weighed in on the situation, warning Osimhen against a potential switch to Old Trafford. According to him, the current structure at Manchester United places enormous pressure on attacking players, making it a difficult environment for consistent performance.
Odemwingie noted that strikers at the club often become the focus of criticism when results fall short, highlighting the intense scrutiny that comes with playing for such a high-profile side. He also pointed to past forwards who struggled to meet expectations as evidence of the risks involved.
Speaking on Osimhen’s future, the former forward stressed that Old Trafford may not be the ideal destination at this stage of his career.
“I didn’t particularly mention Manchester United because the problem there is huge. The pressure on forward players is immense. He should stay away from there,” he said.
Instead, Odemwingie suggested that Osimhen consider clubs with more stable and structured systems. He identified Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid as ideal fits.
At Arsenal, he believes Osimhen would benefit from a well-organised system that suits his movement and finishing ability. At Barcelona, the club’s technical style could enhance his link-up play and intelligent runs, while Real Madrid’s fast-paced attacking transitions could fully utilise his speed and power.
Osimhen remains one of the most sought-after strikers in world football following his success with SSC Napoli, where he led the team to a Serie A title and finished as the league’s top scorer in the 2022–23 season. He also made history as the first African player to win the Serie A Golden Boot and was later crowned African Footballer of the Year.
