A resident has been killed and two others injured following attacks by suspected armed assailants on communities in Kogi State, according to local sources. The incidents occurred in Edede and Ojapata communities in Oganenigu, Dekina Local Government Area, where attackers reportedly struck on Tuesday afternoon. Sources said one resident, identified as Nasiru Ulayi, was shot dead, while several houses were set ablaze, displacing families.

In a separate incident, two members of a local vigilante group were ambushed in Onitcha-Igo community, Ofu Local Government Area. The victims, who were on patrol, sustained injuries during the attack and were taken to a medical facility for treatment. One of them is reported to be undergoing surgery.

Residents cited growing security concerns in the affected areas, including increased activity by criminal groups. Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Kogi State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
