Falana reacts to Buhari’s daughter presidential jet ride

Femi Falana, a prominent human rights lawyer, has reacted to the controversies raised by Hanan Buhari, daughter of president Buhari, using a Presidential jet.

According to Falana, it is illegal for the President’s daughter to use the presidential jet for personal engagements.

On Sunday, January 12, the lawyer argued through a statement that the country’s policy does not authorize the president’s children to fly the presidential jets when they attend social events.

His statement in parts: “In fact, there is no precedent whatsoever for such privatisation of the presidency of Nigeria,

“The so called ‘normal practice’ of using the aircraft in the presidential fleet by members of the first family to attend to private engagements is not backed by any extant law or official policy,”

Falana said that stopping the use of the jets in such manner would help to cut cost of governance.
