COVID -19 : FRSC deploys 500 personnel in Ogun

Mr Clement Oladele, the Sector  Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, on Wednesday said the command had deployed 500 personnel to support the federal and state governments in combating further spread of the coronavirus.

Oladele stated this in an interview with Our Correspondent in Abeokuta.

He explained that the command had received directives from its national headquarters to support the state government in the fight against the pandemic by deploying necessary resources.

Oladele said that the resources included patrol operatives, patrol vans, patrol motorbikes and FRSC life support ambulances.

“In addition, we have prepared and deployed the FRSC Emergency Road Side Clinics, especially at Sagamu on the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway and at Itori on the Abeokuta – Lagos Expressway.

“These also includes FRSC medical personnel comprising medical doctors, specialised nurses and other trauma experts to ensure full implementation of the presidential directive on COVID – 19 as it affects Ogun state,” he said.

The sector commander added that the command had partnered with sister security, traffic and emergency agencies to ensure implementation of the presidential directive and extant instructions from the state government.

He enjoined members of the public to cooperate with FRSC officers and Marshals as well as all other relevant security and emergency agencies during the period.

“Motorists categorised as being on essential duties and who are granted presidential exemption should be ready to present evidence to avoid unnecessary delay when stopped for routine checks on the road.

“All FRSC operatives participating in the special operation have been provided with safety and protective gears, especially nose guards and hand gloves.

“Motorists being attended to during these special operations are therefore enjoined to respect the ‘social distancing rule’ when being attended to by the FRSC Officers and Marshals,” he said.

Oladele added that all FRSC operatives on duty during the special operations had been briefed to be polite and exhibit good conduct while they work harmoniously with sister security agencies during the period.
