…..URGING POLICE TO INCREASE SURVEILLANCE.
By Richard Akintade, Osogbo
Following the attack on Osun State College of Technology, OSCOTECH, Esa-Oke, by unknown gunmen on Tuesday, the State Chapter of the Oodua Peoples Congress OPC, has condemned in totality the killing of a staff and abduction of other staffs of the institution at Eti-Oni junction, along Esa-Oke/Ijebu-Jesa road in the state.
The Oodua Peoples Congress, in a statement by the State Supervisory Coordinator of the Yoruba Socio-Cultural organization, Prince Adedeji Aladesawe in Osogbo on Thursday and made available to newsmen, described the avoidable bloodletting as unfortunate.
The statement noted that the concerned authority has continued to downplay the invasion of the gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in the state over the years which has continued to claimed lives of many people in the state which goes unreported.
The organisation recalled the last incident along Iwo/Osogbo road in which some Methodist priests were abducted by suspended Fulani herdsmen. The organization noted that up till now, non of those who perpetrated the dastardly act are yet to be brought to book.
The OPC Osun, under the leadership of the Aare  Ona Kakanfo, Iba Gani Adams, appealed strongly to all security operatives in the state to increase on surveillance and intelligence gathering to always nip issues of abduction, kidnapping and robbery in the bud before it happened.
While ensuring that the OPC is working hand in hand with other security agencies in ensuring that the abducted staffs of OSCOTECH regain their freedom, the organisation assured of its readiness to join hands at ensuring that peace reigns supreme in Osun State.
