Yuletide: NSCDC deploys 1,400 officers in Kogi.

For a smooth movement and to avert breakdown of law and order during this yuletide season, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) has deployed 1, 400 of its personnel to Kogi State.

The Kogi State commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCSC) Commandant, Philip Olushola Ayodele disclosed this at the weekend during a brief session with journalists in Lokoja.

NSCSC boss who expressed his command preparedness to tackle the problems posed by this festive period noted that the command has mapped out strategy, including its operation drive to related security agencies in the state towards ensuring a hitch -free yuletide celebration.

Explaining, Ayodele said the command has extended its operation to major roads, through a collaborative efforts with the Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) to ease free movement of motorists, plying the route of Kogi State.

On the re-surfacing of kidnapping and armed robbery incidents along kabba -Oshokoshoko road in west district of Kogi State, the commandant said they are not limiting security monitoring to an agency alone, stressing that it has been resolved by the security operatives that the menace of kidnapping and armed robbery incidents will be jointly tackled by all security agencies in the State.

” We are on top of the situation ” he added”.

However, the NSCSC commandant urged the general public to note that security personnel’s are not magicians, but depends on information from members of the public to effectively combat crime in the country.

” We need intelligent gathering. if you notice an unsuspicious movement, or notice a movement that is criminal in nature, be bold to confront that person. But If you can’t, call on any of the security agency, they will respond quickly” Ayodele expressed.

He assured members of the public that any information given to the command will be treated with absolute confidentiality.

The commandant who also spoke on the destruction of billboards, ahead of the forthcoming general election said, NSCDC is training a special team that will handle this type of crime in the state.

According to him, NSCDC and other security agencies are battle ready for the election, warning that any of its operatives caught to be partisan or aiding politicians to cause mayhem in the forthcoming polls will be dismissed with immediate effect.

He therefore urged parents to warn their wards not to allow their children to be used as thugs by desperate politician who sees politics as a do or die affairs in the State.

“No political in this country, would want to use his own child as thug. Parents should warn their children, as any one that is caught, will face the full wrath of the law”, NSCSC boss said.
