A’bom Police nab 328 suspects for murder, cultism, others

The Police in Akwa Ibom has arrested 328 suspects for various cases of murder, cultism, armed robbery, rape and child trafficking in the state.

State Commissioner of Police Imohimi Edgal who made this known on Tuesday in Uyo while parading the suspects said the suspects were arrested between July and August this year.

According to Edgal,”the breakthrough were made possible on the grounds of sustained onslaught against rapists and other criminals in the state”, commending residents for their cooperation and support to the Command.

The commissioner noted that the command was poised to sustain the tempo in the fight against crimes and criminality in order to provide adequate security for the lives and prosperity of people of the state.

Among those arrested were 17 suspected cultists in Obio Idang village, Oruk Anam Local Government Area, LGA, and a fake soldier and his accomplice for car snatching.

According to the him, the fake soldier was arrested by Anti-Kidnapping operatives based on an intelligence report.

The Command, the commissioner further said arrested a 51 year old Pastor and four others for rape in various parts of the state within the period.

“Based on complaint, Detectives of Mkpat Enin Division apprehended one Pastor Mfon Lazarus Etukudo ‘m’, aged 51yrs, who is a Pastor of a new generation Church at Ikot Ekpuk village, Mkpat Enin LGA for defiling a 13-yr-old girl.

” Investigation revealed that the suspect on the same date at about 11:15am waylaid and dragged the victim into his bedroom located at the Church premises and had unlawful carnal of her.

” Also, Detectives of Ibesikpo Division apprehended one Christopher Asuquo Akpan ‘m’, aged 55yrs of Afaha Etok, Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, who allegedly defiled a 4-yr-old girl while detectives of ‘C’ Division also arrested one Christian Eyo Luke ‘m’, aged 34yrs of Use Ikot Obio Offot, Uyo who allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of an 8-yr-old girl.

“Detectives of Ikot Ekpene Division acting on a tip-off, arrested one Unyime Etim Ibanga ‘m’, aged 24yrs of No. 13 Etok Eren Street, Ikot Ekpene who allegedly had an unlawful carnal knowledge of his 12-yr-old niece while detectives of Etim Ekpo Division apprehended one Godgift Joshua Uto ‘m’, aged 16yrs, of Ikot Ese, Etim Ekpo LGA who allegedly defiled a 10-yr-old girl. ” He explained.
