A former Chief Press Secretary to President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Wada Maida is dead.
Malam Wada Maida was at one time, the Chairman, Board of Directors of the News Agency of Nigeria.
His death was confirmed by a member of his family, Lawal Sale Maida who said that Maida died in Abuja on Monday at the age of 70.
Before his appointment as Managing Director of NAN, he served the agency as Maida, Editor-in-Chief. He was one of the pioneer editors of the agency and served at various times as its Regional Editor in Kaduna, Political Editor and London Correspondent.
He was Chief Press Secretary to Muhammadu Buhari when the General became military Head of State in December 1983, and returned to NAN in 1985 to become its Editor-in-Chief for eight years.
