Nigeria Police to set up female police Secretariat

… to partner with NAWOJ FCT on gender issues

The first female Inspector General of Police, Dr. Aisha Mohammed has disclosed that for the first time in the history of the Nigeria Police is about to set Nigeria women Police Secretariat.
Muhammed made this known today when the NAWOJ FCT led by Chairperson of the chapter, Comrade Stella Okoh-Esene the executive members on a courtesy visit her at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
She said, ” For the first time in the history of Nigeria Police the current Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu has approved the Nigeria Women Police Secretariat which will be replicated at the zonal quarters across the states.”
She explained that the Secretariat is set up purely to course of issues concerning female police officers.
She also disclosed that in a short period three female Police have been elivated to the rank of Commissioners.
She informed that women Police have also taken Frontline role in the fight against COVID-19 through sensitization and distribution of palliatives to families within the FCT.
” There are a lot of issues that affect women and children in our society today.
Currently there is a campaign against rape , Nigeria’ police women are planning a series of programmes towards this, we are counting on NAWOJ for support on these programmes, she said.
She commended NAWOJ for it’s passionate on issues concerning women and children and children and said that the Nigerian Police women seeks support from female journalists to fight the same course.
We are going to have good collaboration with you for women, children and society in general, Mohammed said.

NAWOJ FCT Chairperson Comrade Stella Okoh-Esene on behalf of the association congratulated Assistant Inspector General, Aisha Mohammed as the most senior female police officer in the Nigeria Police Force and prayed for her success as she discharges her duties.

OKoh- Esene reiterated the association’s willingness to support and collaborate with female police in tackling issues concerning women, girls and children.
