COVID-19: Donald Trump discharged from hospital, says he’s ‘feeling great’

Donald Trump has announced on Twitter that he is ‘feeling really good’ and will be leaving Walter Reed hospital Monday evening.

The president tweeted ‘I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!’ Trump’s doctors are due to speak at 3 pm, sparking speculation that Trump may have undercut their press conference and sent out an off-the-cuff tweet. Doctor Sean Conley said on Monday that it’s ‘been more than 72 hours since his last fever,’ but added that ‘he may not be entirely out of the woods yet.’

Still, Conley confirmed what the president tweeted, and said Trump will be leaving Walter Reed hospital to go back to the White House where ‘he will be surrounded world class medical care 24/7.’ Visit our live blog for the latest updates Coronavirus news live Trump’s announcement came amid claims his aides have warned him not to discharge himself from Walter Reed too early after being admitted there on Friday due to testing positive for coronavirus. Trump is said to fear the hospital stay is making him look ‘weak’ – but White House staffers say his campaign will be badly damaged if his health dips again, and he is forced to return to hospital. Trump allegedly said he was ‘bored’ at the hospital and is now feeling ‘good’ to be leaving. Trump tweeted about this incident, saying that the media would have called him rude if he hadn’t been driven in the car on Sunday. His press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany announced on Monday that she tested positive for coronavirus, just a day after speaking without a mask to reporters. Many new cases stem from a Supreme Court nominee ceremony held in the Rose Garden last month where three Republican senators, Chris Christie, Thom Tillis and Mike Lee, contracted the virus. Hope Hicks, Trump’s political adviser, was the first member of the administration to announce she had the virus. The RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel tested positive, as well as Trump’s counselor KellyAnne Conway. Bill Stepian’s, Trump’s campaign manager, also tested positive for coronavirus. There are 7.4 million cases of coronavirus in the US and over 210,000 Americans have died.
