Fake dollars in circulation, says EFCC

By Jennifer Y Omiloli

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has alerted members of the public of the reported circulation of fake Dollar notes ahead of the general elections.

EFCC acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu, said that the warning follows intelligence gathered in the build-up to the elections in a statement.

Magu said the reports they received indicates that the Dollar notes have features of genuineness, but after rigorous forensic analysis by the EFCC, it was revealed otherwise.

“We, therefore, warn the BDC operators to be cautious in their transactions from now till the end of the elections,” Magu stated.
