SSANU, NASU petition Benue Panel of Inquiry over Police brutality, Human rights violation

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), Benue State University Chapter have dragged Police Officers to the Judicial Panel of Inquiry into Police brutality and human rights violation sitting in Makurdi over alleged arrest and assault of their members during a peaceful protest to press home their demands for promotion and payment of entitlements. 

Leader of SSANU, Comr. Timothy Atsaka and that NASU. Comr. Emmanuel Gever alleged that the assault and arrest on 3rd January, 2020 and the subsequent detention of some of their members was gross violation of their fundamental human rights.
They urged the panel to sanction the Police Officers as well as compelled them to tender apologies in four media houses in addition to a compensation of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000). 

The case has been adjourned to 24th February, 2021 to enable complainants amend the copy of the petition due to some errors detected in it.
