NGO inuagurates officials for Inmates, Ex-convicts, IDPs, widows, orphans others

An NGO, Prisoner’s Care and Human Rehabilitation Aid (PCHRA), bestowed with the responsibility to serve and provide humanitarian services to inmates, ex-convicts, IDPs, Widows, Orphans and Physically challenged, the weekend officially inaugurated its Board and Welfare officials in Kaduna head office.

 

Members of the Organization have also commenced distribution of food items, cash and material needs for their target audience which cut across zones, states of the federation and religion.

 

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the board and welfare committees, held at M1 Ahmadu Bello Way by Ibrahim Taiwo road, Kaduna, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) Pastor Adekunle Festus said membership of the organization cut across all religious divides.

Pastor Festus explained that the core aims and objectives of PCHRA among other things, include complementing Government efforts to support those serving correctional or prison sentences with materials like clothes, medical and legal services to improve and better their stay at the centres.

He also said  PCHRA will support ex-convicts released from prisons to access their homes and families with vocational training skills acquisition and empowerment, support IDPs with reliefs materials like foods, clothes and other items to help them settle back into society.

PCHRA, Festus stated, will also support widows, orphans and physically challenged with vocational training, empowerment and children’s education, skills acquisition, materials, food items and other material needs.

The CEO also said that there’ll be States and zonal offices in line with the PCHRA constitution with international connection already yielding results for receiving some materials from one Mr and Mrs Lanre David trustee members outside Nigeria.

Elder Festus however revealed that compassion, constant visitation to prisons inmates, the plight of vulnerable people and how to touch lives amidst difficult challenges, gave birth to the idea which led to the formation and establishment of PCHRA.

The CEO also took times and pains to explained the NGO logo, the bird and reasons for using prisoners instead of a correctional facility, attributing it to the international outlook of the organization.

At the end of over three hours ceremony, Mr John Haruna declared General Secretary PCHRA,  Mr. Boniface Tukura emerged as Chairman Boards of Trustee and Mrs Lara Adejokun as Chairman of welfare committee, respectively. End
