I met Zakiyya Salisu at the 1st inter-school agricultural science quiz competition organised by Sokoto state Universal Basic Education Board.
Zakiyya Salisu a disabled student from Nasarawa Primary School represented Tambuwal Local government education authority at the competition where her school emerged the winner of the competition.
After motivated by Zakiyya’s inspiration, I interviewed her teacher Malama Jamila Umar Ibrahim and she confirmed to me that Zakiyya is an intelligent student who always took first position in her class.
Zakiyya confirmed to me that she want to further her education to become lawyer in future.
Zakiyya attributed her success to the support she is getting from her family and Tambuwal local government education authority.
Speaking on the support the local government education authority is given to Zakiyya, Alhaji Bawa Aliyu Jabbo the education Secretary said they bought about two crouches for her to be in school all the time.
Director Social Mobilization SUBEB Sokoto Dr. Kabiru Aliyu promised to consult Special Adviser to the governor on People with Disabilities for possible assistance
Inclusive education is cardinal in tackling out of school children and also drop out.
There is need for educational stakeholders to encourage Zakiyya Salisu and women education with all the necessary support to see her/their dream(s) come true.
