… Hold Special Day Of Prayer For Sustained Reforms

The College of Bishops Imams and Clergy Councils of Nigeria (CBICCON) have held a special prayer session for the management of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over what it described as turn around reforms introduced by the Commision under the leadership of Mr Shehu Ilelah.

The group in a statement released to journalist on Friday in Abuja and signed by it’s president Bishop Abel King further commended the NBC management for whollistic reforms, total rebranding of the Commision in line with the set objectives.

” Just under six months, the director general has justified the confidence of Mr president on his appointment, for us as clergy, we can only offer our moral support for the commission to succeed”

” The NBC as you all know is the regulatory agency for good journalism in Nigeria , and of course, whatever they do has immense consequences for the international image and of the country having regard to media ethics and practice.

The new director general comes on the job with tact, coupled with decades long experience in the profession ”

Bishop Abel maintained that with the New director general’s experience as an astute broadcaster and proffesional, excellent journalism and media practice in Nigeria will sure be achieved for the ultimate good of the country.

“As clergy who are in touch with the masses, one thing we can say of Mr president is that Nigerians are not in doubt of his integrity and good judgement , indeed Mr president got it right on Mr Ilelah’s appointment”

All we pray for at the moment is for a sustained momentum so as to consolidate on the reforms currently ongoing at the commission.

Responding to posers by press men, the group admitted that their was some sort of rot in the Commision in the previous management which saw to the appointment of a new sheriff in the person of Shehu Ilelah.

“One thing you can not take from the president is his gift of identifying the best hands on the job , he has demonstrated this time and again , the stability and peaceful atmosphere at the commision within the last six months is a testimony that has left all Nigerians and media stakeholders without an iota of doubt. The group maintained.

“Thank you Mr president”

The group further urged the management of NBC to be focused and not be distracted. ” One thing that is not in doubt is this, when leadership is commited to changing the status quo for the better, enemies of the nation will always fight back but Nigerians have chosen to stand by their president and believes in his good intentions for the country.

“All we can do is to sustain moral support and once again restore our country on the pedestal of progress and prosperity.
