Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has admonished the people of the state to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 preventive measures during Christmas and New year festive periods to contain the spread of the virus.
It could be recalled that the Presidential Steering committee on Covid-19 had placed restriction against public gathering during the Yuletide following reports of upsurge of new infections including Omicron Variant.
The Governor who gave this counsel in Makurdi enjoined families to restrict the number of visitors to their homes as well as protect themselves against the dreaded virus with the use of face mask and hand sanitizer among other precautionary measures.
He urged the people to avoid non essential travels, stressing that it is one of the ways to curtail the spread of Covid-19 virus.
Governor Ortom implored eligible persons to present themselves for vaccination or under Covid-19 rapid test to confirm their status, warning that the virus is reall. He hinted that some of his aides recently tested positive for the virus.
The Governor assured that his administration would remain committed to security of lives and property of the Benue citizens.
