PDP Lawmakers vows to checkmate APC

By Jennifer Yusuf

Newly elected Senate minority leader, Senator Eyinanya Abaribe, has vowed that lawmakers elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the ninth assembly will do everything within their powers to keep the majority All Progressives Congress, APC, in check and to work in the interest of the electorates.

Eyinanya, who stated this at the 86th National Executives Committee, NEC, emergency meeting of the PDP in Abuja, stressed that the PDP lawmakers in the assembly are equal to the challenges ahead despite the ruling All Progressives Congress having majority and dominating the leadership of the assembly.

Speaking earlier, immediate past Speaker of the house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara, said going by the report issued by the European Union Election Observers Mission, the PDP did not lose the 2019 general elections, rather it was stolen.

Dogara said the PDP lost the 2019 Presidential election, particularly,  only to the rigging machinery  of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The lawmaker stressed that the PDP will do everything within its powers to recover the stolen mandate freely given to it by the people of Nigeria.
