The continued hearing in the allegations of 6.3 billion naira fraud suit against former Governor Jonah David Jang and ex- cashier to Secretary to the State Government proved too heavy for the ex-governor as he collapsed during proceedings at the Jos High Court, Plateau State on Tuesday.

Following the development that took everybody by surprise, the presiding Judge, Justice Chisty Dabup immediately granted a stand down of the court proceedings.

The former governor who is standing trial on allegations of misappropriation of public funds and diversion of SUBEB money amounting to the sum of 6.3 billion is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC. The case has been dragging for the over four years, now.

However, when the proceeding was ongoing the second accused person ,Mr Yusuf Pam who was seated very close to the former governor, alerted his counsel, Edward Pwajok ,SAN,who immediately took permission from the presiding judge to attend to his client.

Pwajok , after rushing to meet with his client ,Sen. Jang, informed the judge that the former governor’s blood sugar level had risen above the normal level and he needed his aide to bring him a particular drink that is mixed with ginger which they assumed he usually took when such condition arose.

At that, the prosecution counsel Rotimi Jacobs ,SAN, immediately stood up and made an oral application for a stand down for some minutes to enable the former governor regain his strength .

The judge in seeing the plight of the former governor immediately granted the application and he (Jang) was rushed outside the court room to receive proper attention.

The court reconvened shortly after a period 30 minutes and the proceedings continued.
