Okezie Ikpeazu, the outgoing Governor of Abia State and the Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governor’s Forum (PDPGF), has formally dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC).

The dissolution was made known in a press release issued by Mr Onyebuchi Ememanka, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Abia State.

This follows the expiration of his two term of eight years on Monday 29th May, 2023.

Daybreak recalls that Alex Otti, an ex-bank chief and the Labour Party Gubernatorial candidate in Abia state, was declared the winner of the recently-conducted election after polling a total of 175, 467 votes cast to beat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahiwe, who scored 88,529 votes.

Governor Ikpeazu while earlier addressing SEC members during the council’s last meeting which took place at the New Government House, Umuahia, on Sunday, appreciated council members for their dedication to service and diligence in carrying out their assignments.

According to the release by his spokesman, “the Governor stated that while he will share with members of the council the successes of his administration, he will accept responsibility for their failures.

“He wished them well in their future endeavors”.

Ikpeazu further remembered members of the council who died in active service, mentioning his first Chief of Staff, late Chief Chijioke Nwakodo and Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr Ukpai Agwu Ukpai and former State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Solomon Ogunji respectively, as well as others.
