Abuja Rail Mass Transit 97% completed, to be commissioned in May -Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, on Friday during an inspection tour of the rail project, said that the Abuja Rail Mass Transit (ART) project is 97 percent completed and would be ready for commissioning in May, when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks his first year in office.

Wike stated this after an inspection tour from the Abuja Metro Station in the Central Area to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

He added that Tinubu had approved the schedule for the inauguration of projects to celebrate his one year in office.

The minister expressed happiness that the work is nearing completion for commissioning said, ” l am impressed by the work of the contractor China Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC,for the commissioning date.

“It will be among the projects that Mr. President will commission in May because it is key to the economy, and it will be useful to the people.”

‘We have three terminals for the rail transportation, this is to curtail the “One Chance”, we find in Abuja. Nigerians are happy they are going to use the rail transport.”

Meanwhile, the minister also said that the FCT Administration has concluded plans to build three terminals for the road transportation system for residents of the territory.

He explained that the development would significantly help in curtailing the menace “one chance” criminals in Abuja.

He said that the FCTA road transport system would commence in May, adding that when inaugurated, people would no longer take the risk of entering vehicles they don’t know the operators.
