The Association of Resident Doctors, of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, ARD- FCTA, on Tuesday commenced a three-day warning strike action over the withholding April salaries of 127 doctors and other healthcare workers by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

“We hereby declare a 3-day warning strike, effective from 8:00am on Tuesday, 6th May 2025 to 8:00am on Friday, 9th May 2025.”

The doctors’ called on the FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike to interven by ensuring an immediate payment of withheld April salaries to all affected staff without delay and their names added back to the FCT Civil Service Commission payment platform.

This was contained in a communiqué signed and issued on Tuesday by the ARD-FCTA Dr. George Ebong, and the Secretary General, Dr Agbor Affiong
,made available to newsmen in Abuja.

The association stated the decision to embark on a three- day warning strick action was taken after an emergency meeting to address the non-payment of doctors salaries despite working and other contending issues affecting members.
The doctors lamented the
emotional, psychological, physical and financial harm caused by withholding of members salaries and demanded an unreserved, written apology from the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission to all affected members.
ARD also accused the FCT Civil Service Commission of delisting the affected doctors from the salary list and its continuous undermine of staff welfare and administrative progress.
It further complained that the Commission has delisted these staff after passing the tedious verification process organized by the commission for employment.
However, the association has also threatened to embark on a protest if their demands are not met, and to express their displeasure.
