The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, is under fire over allegations of a secret meeting with President Bola Tinubu. He is also criticized for his lack of commitment to the party’s success.
Kola Ologbondiyan, former PDP National Publicity Secretary, questioned why Damagum hasn’t responded to the accusations. “How can the opposition leader meet with the ruling president without addressing it?” Ologbondiyan asked.
He urged PDP leaders to intervene and prevent further setbacks. “It’s wrong that Damagum is overseeing the party’s decline,” he said.
Ologbondiyan warned that Damagum’s indifference could hurt the party in upcoming elections in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun. He pointed to the party’s losses in Kogi, Imo, and Ondo as examples.
The criticism highlights growing concerns over PDP’s leadership and its future as the main opposition party.
