Adamawa House of Assembly Urge State Government to Promote and Upgrade Primary School Teachers

Adamawa State House of Assembly has directed the State Universal Basic Education Board and other relevant stakeholders to start processing the promotion and upgrading of deserved primary schools teachers across the State.
The resolution followed a motion sponsored by Chairman House Committee on Education and Member representing Hong Constituency Mr Bathliya Wesley on the floor of the House during Wednesday Session.
The House also directed the State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to release back up fund for the promotion and upgraded teachers of Local Education Authorities immediately after the promotion and the upgrading.
Mr Wesley explained that teachers are the nation builders, but neglected since two thousand and eight without promotion or upgrading, adding that present government is doing well towards construction and renovating schools as well as free education, but the primary school teachers were left behind.
Some of the members, who contributed on the matter, said the motion is timely adding that the promotion and upgrading in the civil service is a right and not a privilege.
The speaker, Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas who preside over the plenary put the motion for adoption into voice vote and unanimously supported by the lawmakers present during the sitting.
He directed the clerk of the House to communicate resolution to authorities concern for further action.

Also during Wednesday’s sitting, a bill for a law to amend the Adamawa state penal code law ten of twenty eighteen so as to provide stiffer punishment for the offenders of Rape and kidnapping has scaled through first reading.
The bill was sponsored by the majority Leader of the House and member represented Jada/Mbulo constituency Hammantukur Yettisuri was presented on the floor of the House.
Speaker Aminu Iya Abbas who presided over the plenary directed the Chairman House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privilege to schedule the bill for second reading at a convenient legislative day.
In a related development, the House during its plenary has read for the first time a bill for a law to establish Adamawa State Environmental Agency ADEPA with its functions and the powers for the effective implementation of such functions.
The bill was sponsored by the member representing Song Constituency Mr Simon Isa was presented on the floor.
The Speaker then directed the majority Leader of the House to schedule the bill for second reading in any convenient Legislative day.
