Adamawa: police arrest two YEDC auxiliary staff for vandalizing, stealing cables

Adamawa State police command has arrested two auxiliary staff of Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) for alleged involvement in vandalizing and stealing of armored electricity cables.

According to a statement by the command’s image maker, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the two suspects, Idi Wakili (62) and Babangida Bello (54) all residents of Madumeri ward of Yola south local government were arrested along Rygange – Njoboliyo road.

The statement said the two suspects have been allegedly committing the crime since 2018.

” Operatives of the command attached to Yola division while on area patrol along Rugange – Njoboliyo road arrested two Notorious vandals .

” The suspects Idi Wakil 62 years and Babangida Bello 54 years, all residents of Madumari ward, Yola South local government, have been vandalising, stealing and selling out the armored electricity cables that connect Njoboliyo and other villages from Yola thus resulting to power outage in those areas, causing disruption and loses to Yola Electricity Distribution company (YEDC).

” The commissioner of police Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, commended officers and men of Yola division and members of the community for making it difficult for such criminals to escape arrest.

” Investigation further reveals that, the suspects are auxiliary staff of YEDC and have been committing similar offences since 2018,” the statement said.
