The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved ₦718, 945, 832.21 for the construction of cottage hospitals in Lamurde, Gombi, Shellegn and Girei local government areas.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Doctor Umar Garba Pella disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Wednesday.
He said out of the total sum Lamurde Cottage hospital will gulp ₦179,047, 221, Gombi: ₦180, 909, 442, Shellegn: ₦179, 979, 172.71, and that of Girei: ₦179, 029, 789.50.
Doctor Pella said building the new cottage hospitals in the four local government areas was inline with the present administration’s policy of ensuring all sectors are touched while health sector is completely overhauled.
According to the Commissioner, Council has also approved continuation of work on office block of the Adamawa state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in accordance with the procurement process of Adamawa state at the cost of ₦129, 733, 725. 64.
Doctor Garba revealed that the project was awarded to Messrs AA Lawan Nigeria Limited in twenty eighteen but without following due process and which necessitated government to ratify it according to the law for continuation of the work.
He added that council has approved engagement of Messrs Ahmed Bawa and Co Chartered Accountant as consulting firm, to develop a template, prepare and upload quarterly report of the Accountant general of the state for the next five years commencing from twenty twenty to twenty twenty four.
He added that the Council has also approved an engagement of ABM Computers and Communication Technology, a consulting firm to develop new website to publish accounts and relegated documents of the office of the Accountant general, budget department, board of internal revenue and other agencies.
He said engagements of the two consultants was to enable the state to participate in the state physical transparency and accountability and sustainability programme of the world bank as requirements stipulated by bank for participating States.
