ADC Kaduna Crisis: Party Says No “Coalition Publicity Secretary” Position Exists

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kaduna State Chapter, has clarified that there is no position known as “ADC Coalition Publicity Secretary” within its constitutionally recognised structure, amid ongoing internal disputes over publicity roles in the party. The clarification was contained in a formal rejoinder issued on Tuesday and addressed to Hon. Alex Tagwai and Hon. Darius Kurah, following claims and counterclaims linked to alleged self-appointments and factional arrangements within the party.

The letter, signed by the ADC Kaduna State Publicity Secretary, Engr. Idris Musa, described the controversy as unnecessary and misleading, stressing that the party’s constitution does not recognise any such office in Kaduna State or at any level of the ADC nationwide.“ Let me state clearly and without ambiguity: there is no position known as ‘ADC Coalition Publicity Secretary’ in Kaduna State or anywhere within the constitutionally recognised structure of the African Democratic Congress,” the letter stated.

It added that any individual claiming or parading such a title is engaging in impersonation, noting that the ADC constitution also makes no provision for an “Acting State Publicity Secretary” position created through personal pronouncements or factional alignment. According to the party, the ADC Kaduna State Chapter is under the lawful leadership of Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha as State Chairman, following due process and subsisting legal recognition. The letter reaffirmed that Engr. Musa remains the duly recognised and substantive State Publicity Secretary.“

This position is backed by law, party processes, and subsisting court orders. I have not authorised any individual to act, speak, or issue statements on my behalf in any capacity,” Musa said. The rejoinder further referenced court orders restraining former Chairman, Elder Patrick Ambut, and former State Secretary, Victor Oluwatuyi, from parading themselves as ADC Kaduna State executives. It warned that individuals deriving authority from that faction lack legal standing.“

Consequently, any former state executive members aligned with them or acting under their influence are doing so without legal authority,” the letter stated. The party emphasised that only the office of the State Publicity Secretary is legally empowered to issue press statements, rejoinders, or public notices on behalf of the ADC in Kaduna State. It urged party members, the media, and the general public to disregard statements issued under any invented titles.“

This letter therefore serves as a formal warning to immediately desist from parading yourselves under any publicity-related titles connected to the ADC in Kaduna State, as such conduct is misleading, unlawful, and detrimental to party order and discipline,” the statement warned. The ADC reiterated its commitment to legality, structure, and due process, cautioning that further impersonation or unauthorised public communication could attract disciplinary and legal action.
