AFCON 2025: Davido wins $96,000 after predicting Super Eagles’ match against Tanzania

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reportedly made a significant profit after correctly predicting the outcome of Nigeria’s opening match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The DMW Records founder placed a bet on the Super Eagles’ Group C clash against Tanzania in Fes, Morocco, backing both teams to score during the encounter.

His prediction paid off as Nigeria recorded a 2-1 victory over the Taifa Stars on Tuesday. A late goal from Ademola Lookman sealed the win for the Super Eagles, completing a comeback after Tanzania had taken an early lead against the run of play.

According to reports, Davido earned a payout of $96,564, estimated at about N150 million, from the successful wager.

Despite dominating possession for most of the match, Nigeria initially fell behind before responding with renewed intensity to draw level and eventually secure all three points through Lookman’s decisive strike.

The victory places the Super Eagles in a strong position in Group C as they pursue a fourth AFCON title. Nigeria will look to build on the opening win when they face their next group opponents in the tournament.
