Again, Bandits kill 22 in Zamfara

From Abba Kabara

Despite security reinforcement in Zamfara with recent recruitment of 8500 civilian JTFs to fight banditry, 22 persons were allegedly killed Monday in Malikawa community of Gidan Goga district of Maradun local government.

Our reporter learned that of the 22 persons lost to the bandits’ attack, six of them were burnt alive when they hid in the bushy corn stalks to save their lives, but watchful of the move, the bandits were said to have set the corn stalks ablaze, roasting all the six victims alive.

A member of the community Mallam Bashir Mallamawa who witnessed the incidence narrates that the bandits besieged the community in their dozens, shooting indiscriminately at anyone in sight.

“People were aimlessly running for their lives, fleeing for safety, while the gunmen kept killing people mercilessly”, recalls the witness.

He also recalls that the bandits who besieged the community on motorbikes, chased people killing anybody on sight, just as the wailing of women and children rented the atmosphere.

Our reporter could not reach the state police spokesman SP Shehu Mohammed for comment.
